About the Artist

Regine Villasante is a Multidisciplinary Artist based in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

BIO:

Regine Villasante is an Asian multidisciplinary artist who works across a variety of mediums to give form to emotion, memory, and transformation.

Her work explores the interplay of light, memory, and the human emotion. Growing up across Asia, she developed a keen awareness of cultural nuance, identity, and the quiet power of reflection. Through painting, Regine examines moments of vulnerability, resilience, and grace, often drawing on symbolism and personal experience to invite viewers into contemplative spaces.

Artist Statement:

With a background in graphic design and psychology, I approach art as both expression and exploration. My work is shaped by a curiosity about the inner world, how emotions, memories, and experiences quietly influence the way we see ourselves and others. Each piece becomes a way for me to pause and observe what often goes unnoticed: the subtle feelings that shape our identities, the vulnerability that exists alongside strength, and the quiet moments that leave lasting impressions on who we are becoming.

Painting allows me to explore these emotional landscapes in a way that words sometimes cannot. Through color, symbolism, and gesture, I try to create space for reflection, both for myself and for the viewer. I’m drawn to the tension between softness and resilience, fragility and courage, and the ways these opposites coexist within us.

For me, art is deeply personal. It is a place where I can slow down, listen more closely to my thoughts and feelings, and translate them into something visual and tangible. In many ways, each piece is part of an ongoing conversation with myself, an attempt to understand, to process, and to grow.

Ultimately, my practice is about becoming. It is about allowing space for honesty, embracing complexity, and acknowledging that growth often happens quietly and gradually. Through my work, I hope to create moments of recognition, where viewers might see a part of their own emotions, stories, or reflections mirrored back to them.
